Bush is supposedly going to war for global "peace and security". The truth is the exact opposite is happening. The terrorist threat is increasing all over the world and anti-American sentiment is growing not only in the Muslim world but in major countries like France, Russia, Germany, and China. The war is inciting more terrorists to take arms against the US and Americans. Bush and his administration are acting "above the law" by bypassing approval by the UN Security Council. Indeed, the majority of the global community does not want a war against Iraq, at least not now. I seriously question whether Bush is any better than Saddam. I'm saddened that as an American I can do nothing to prevent the war and I'm extremely disappointed in my country's government.
Hasn't Bush effectively become the world's dictator? He's able to invade another country even though failing to convince nowhere near the majority of the global community that such action is justified. Even in countries whose governments support Bush, the majority of its citizens are against the war. Again, how democratic are Bush's actions? Listen to the way he talks too — everything is on his terms, no matter what anyone else says.
Posted by derek at March 18, 2003 08:17 PMI am a native american democrat who didn't vote last time around and wasn't very swayed by politics either way. I always believed that America would have it's little spats between the parties but we would all be moving in the same general direction and things would work out and the public would elect the president so my one vote wouldn't mean that much. Now after seeing the most dramatic takeover of this country in the history of democracy taking place and the complacency of the public compounded by the intense full court press put on by the right wing media I have radically changed my views. I see this next election as the battlegrounds in the fight against facism, the american people have to realize that this is not about democrats and republicans this is about our freedom remaining intact throughout this shameful period in our countries history. Sure it would be nice to huddle under the protection of our government but the reality is the Bush regime is thinking the same thing and is acting to secure his dictatorship of this country while we we cower from his "terror alerts". My god where are our balls? we are the most manipulated generation in our history and we are not holding the culprit accountable. Instead we just sit back and accept his paranoid revelations as though we were sitting in church taking the whole sermon in regardless of our personal views. This man and his family have an agenda which doesn't include us but needs us to fund his attempts at tyranny of the world so he will try to call us cowards if we oppose the war, while he himself proved his cowardice in the vietnam war. He will use any means to drape himself in the flag,OUR FLAG! Not his and Dick Cheney's. This man has no business living in this country much less running it, we have to remove him as you would a cancer. The election process broke down recently and can not be fixed unless we prove ourselves as patriots and demand a fair election. You don't have to vote democrat, just don't vote Bush.
